The left’s infatuation with death
The debate over physician assisted suicide is back on the front page as the Supreme Court heard arguments today on Oregon’s current law that allows it. According to the AP,
Dozens of spectators gathered outside the court, waving signs supporting and opposing the Oregon law. “My Life, My Death, My Choice,” read one sign. “Oregon Law Protects Doctors — Not Patients,” said another.
It’s odd that the left, which tries to pass its ideology off as “compassionate,” is so passionate in its support of killing, be it physician assisted suicide, abortion, or euthanasia (i.e., Terri Schiavo), but is so ambivalent toward the right to life and hostile toward those who advocate the right to life.
I wonder if those on the left who are using the states’ rights argument on behalf of the Oregon law would also argue on behalf of states’ rights on abortion by overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing each state to craft its own abortion laws.
Probably not.
