Ouch
The Phillies got creamed last night 11-1. But at least I did get some good pictures at the ballpark. Somehow, even though we’ve now lost 13 of 17 games, we’re still in 1st place, a mere one-half game ahead of the Florida Marlins.

Normally I hate shoddy work. This is not the best picture in the world, but I had to shoot it from a distance, and so the result is rather grainy. But it is readable. I guess a grainy historical marker is better than no historical marker at all.

Pictures from Dollywood
Every time we go to Dollywood, it rains while we’re there. It doesn’t matter what time of year, we always get wet both from water rides and from the rain. It never fails, and it doesn’t matter what the forecast says. If the Roses are in Pigeon Forge, there is a 100% chance of rain there. You could set your clock by it.

Historical marker blogging
I stumbled across this just after exiting I-40 at the Smoky Mountain Parkway earlier this afternoon. There were a couple of other historical markers I saw after this that I had to pass up. The rest of the Rose family doesn’t share my obsession of historical markers, and so I try not to subject them to the sudden stops and swerves that are inherent in historical marker hunting. So I’ll have to be happy with this one for now.
Old photographs
When I left the Navy in 1991, I still had three years obligated to the Naval Reserves. It was during that summer that I enrolled at the University of Memphis (Memphis State University back then), and I also signed up with a reserve unit in Millington, a few miles north of Memphis up Highway 51. So, I did my three years in the reserves while attending college. During that time, we took five separate weekend trips to naval facilities outside of Millington: San Diego CA, Brunswick ME, San Diego CA, Norfolk VA, and Suitland MD. That trip to Brunswick was probably my favorite. It was in August of 1992. I remember flying out of Memphis wearing shorts and shirt sleeves, only to walk off the plane at the Portland airport into a cold drizzle. At any rate, I took pictures that Saturday afternoon after we had driven to a coastal location to sightsee and eat seafood, and I’ve decided to turn that collection into today’s post.

Today at Greer Stadium
Right Minded had the opportunity to attend a rare 11:00 a.m. game at Greer Stadium. It was Reading Club Day for area schools, and so it was me, my buddy, and a bunch of avid readers. Paid attendance was over 8,000, and, as you can see from the pictures, it was packed. Most of the kids had left by about the 7th inning, so the crowd was much thinner by the final out. The Sounds defeated the Reno Aces, who are new to the league, by a score of 7-1, with the Sounds banging out 15 hits.

Admiring God’s handiwork
My wife has had her green thumb out these last few days, and the things she has planted around our house over time are growing and blooming. No, this isn’t a botanical garden. It’s my own yard.
Cheekwood in spring
I should have gotten to this earlier. I was at Cheekwood two Friday’s ago with the camera, and took several springtime photographs of various things that I’ve uploaded to my Flickr account.
