Telling the truth about Obama

without comments

A New Mexico Republican is in hot water for telling the truth about Obama. It’s amazing how telling the truth about the messiah, even using his middle name (Hussein), can get a person in so much trouble. (For the record, not all Muslims are our enemies, just the militants, but this is moreĀ about Obama.)

The chairwoman of an Otero County Republican women’s group on Tuesday defended a letter-to-the-editor in which she wrote, “I believe Muslims are our enemies.”

Marcia Stirman, a 56-year-old interior decorator, also called Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama a “Muslim socialist.”

A national Islamic group expressed outrage over Stirman’s letter and called on state and national Republican Party officials to repudiate the publication of anti-Muslim comments.

“Because these hate-filled remarks were made by a prominent Republican, it is incumbent on state and national GOP officials to repudiate her divisive and intolerant views,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Religion of peace in Great Britain

without comments

From World Net Daily:

Two seventh-grade boys were given detention and their classmates forced to miss their scheduled refreshment break when the pair refused to kneel and pray to Allah during a religious studies class.

Outraged parents called the punishment of the boys for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration at Alsager High School near Stoke-on-Trent, UK, of how Muslims’ worship Allah a breach of their human rights.

“This isn’t right, it’s taking things too far,” parent Sharon Luinen told the London Daily Mail.

“I understand that they have to learn about other religions. I can live with that, but it is taking it a step too far to be punished because they wouldn’t join in Muslim prayer. Making them pray to Allah, who isn’t who they worship, is wrong and what got me is that they were told they were being disrespectful.

Today’s Lebanon Democrat column: “Global warming contributed to Darfur genocide?”

without comments

Forget Iraq and the War on Terrorism. The left will tell you that our troops belong in Darfur, a region in western Sudan where some 200,000 people have been slaughtered by the Islamist Khartoum regime and its Arab militia allies.

That the victims are black has led observers to label the slaughter as genocide. That’s not entirely true, since a true genocide is racially or ethnically motivated. The ongoing slaughter in Darfur is at least partially motivated by religion.

Khartoum (the Sudanese capital) waged a 21-year war against the mostly Christian and animist south that ended in 2004, resulting in an estimated two million deaths.

In Darfur, the African tribes involved are Muslims, but they are not Arab Muslims, and they reject the government’s imposition of its brand of radical Islam.

In other words, the Khartoum regime is killing off its own Muslim citizens because they aren’t Muslim enough.

Never mind that, though. The new U.N. Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, says the culprit isn’t militant Islam, but global warming. In a Washington Post op/ed back on June 15, Ban asserted that “The Darfur conflict began as an ecological crisis, arising at least in part from climate change.” The Secretary General connects the dots by noting the drought conditions that exist in the sub-Saharan climate, and concludes that “It is no accident that the violence in Darfur erupted during the drought.”

A week later, the Associated Press picked up the global warming football by spreading the fear that “Darfur’s tragedy could be repeated in much of North Africa and the Middle East, experts fear, because growing populations are straining a very limited water supply. Data show rainfall steadily declining in the region, possibly because of weather changes linked to global warming.”

(Please note that North Africa and the Middle East are Muslim-dominated regions, and the pre-emptive excuse the press makes for future violence in those areas.)

This is the latest global warming template by the left and the mainstream press. Humanitarian disasters and exploitation will no longer be the fault of those who do evil to others, but the fault of global warming which creates aggression.

For example, Reuters ran a story on June 25 where it quoted Jock Stirrup, head of Britain’s armed forces, who asserted that “…the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington showed the devastation that attacks fuelled by political, economic and social deprivation could achieve.”

Mr. Stirrup further added “Now add in the effects of climate change. Poverty and despair multiply, resentment surges and people look for someone to blame.”

So, like 9/11, the mass killings going on in Darfur aren’t the fault of militant Islamists who are doing the killing. The real culprit here is deprivation, due at least in part to global warming, which, of course, is the fault of us rich capitalists over here in the United States. It’s our fault, fellow SUV owners. We brought this on ourselves.

The oddity here is that the left believes our military presence in Iraq, which has become ground zero for al Qaeda and other Islamic militants, is a waste of lives and resources. We should redirect our attention to Darfur, which is also a haven for Islamic militants. Only the left won’t admit that militant Islam is to blame.

Besides, Sudan has a long history of violence and civil war that began long before the global warming hysteria. The current slaughter of non-Arab Muslims is certainly not a novel occurrence in that nation, and if global warming is the excuse du jour for violence in Sudan, what was the culprit before “climate change?”

In the bigger picture, however, is the desperation into which global warming alarmists have descended, where mass killings and other humanitarian disasters are no longer the fault of those who commit the atrocities. It’s now deprivation induced by man-made global warming that is the great evil which turns otherwise peace-loving, innocent people into militants and terrorists. So I guess those who commit evil in the future can just say that global warming made them do it, and they will get a sympathetic ear from the left.

The final solution

without comments

When I was a senior at Humboldt High School almost 20 years ago, I had the privilege of studying American history under a man named Terry Gray, a crass, pot-bellied chain-smoker of Lucky Strikes who knew history better than anyone I have ever known, including the college professors I would study under later. That year, Professor Gray decided to do something he had never before done. He taught history backward, beginning with the Vietnam War and ending with the Pilgrims. This means we got to World War II very early in the school year, and it was during this time that Professor Gray opened my eyes to the horrors of the Holocaust. While we were studying this period, Professor Gray took us to an all-day seminar on the Holocaust at Lambuth College in nearby Jackson, Tennessee. We watched a film or two, then got to listen to a panel of Holocaust survivors answer questions from the audience. I was most amazed at the determined, methodical, and systematic manner in which the Nazis were able to eliminate some six million Jews during a period of about four years (1941-1945).

During ensuing years, I would read various books and see numerous films on the Holocaust. To this day, I remain as amazed as that 17-year-old high school student at two things: the incredible will to live exhibited by the survivors and the culture of evil that was able to manifest itself in Nazi Germany as a result of the humanistic, relativistic philosophies which had infested that culture.

Yesterday, my wife and I watched The Couple — a film about the Holocaust and a large Jewish family (and their servant couple) that was able to escape Nazi Germany. It is supposedly based on a true story. Watching the film provided a quick reminder of the evils of which man is capable when left to his own devices absent of the God of the Bible. Indeed, Nazi Germany was largely a godless society when man, in effect, became his own god.

With that in mind, I was dismayed to learn recently that schools in Great Britain are going to stop teaching about the Holocaust in order to avoid offending Muslims who might not have a problem with the systematic elimination of Jews. Students will be denied the same discovery I was afforded under Professor Gray, and all in order to avoid offending members of the Religion of Peace.

I’m telling you, liberalism and political correctness are going to be the death of public education if we allow it.

Attacking the words

without comments

The Tennessean editorialized today on the recent flare-up in militant Islam over the Pope’s remarks. Although the local paper’s editorial wasn’t quite as absurd as that run by the New York Times, the editorial board over on Broadway Avenue in Nashville still believes that mere words will quell the violence of militant Islam.

Extremist groups such as al-Qaida in Iraq thrive on the lack of understanding. Before such groups can use this incident to violent advantage, it would behoove religious leaders to focus less on defending ill-timed remarks and more on constructive dialogue.

No, militant Islam does not thrive on any lack of understanding. Militant Islam thrives on primitive violence, which is the only thing it does understand.

The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey of Clifton, has issued his own challenge to Islam, correctly acknowledging that it isn’t the responsibility of non-Muslims to initiate any “constructive dialogue” with militant Islam. That responsibility lies with Islam’s co-religionists.

Lord Carey said that Muslims must address “with great urgency” their religion’s association with violence. He made it clear that he believed the “clash of civilisations” endangering the world was not between Islamist extremists and the West, but with Islam as a whole.

“We are living in dangerous and potentially cataclysmic times,” he said. “There will be no significant material and economic progress [in Muslim communities] until the Muslim mind is allowed to challenge the status quo of Muslim conventions and even their most cherished shibboleths.”

The tolerance of Islam

without comments

Brigitte Gabriel received a rude introduction into the world of Muslim peace and tolerance when it became known she was going to give a lecture at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Patterson introduced me by telling the audience what an eye opener this lecture had become because of the reaction. He stated that he never realized that here in Memphis a speaker should be threatened for his/her safety just to speak on a college campus. He introduced me and I delivered my speech with police officers on both sides as well as about eight others in the lecture hall and around the building.

Unknown to me, a Muslim student attending the University of Memphis was arrested weeks prior to my lecture for, among other things, possession of DVD’s on pilot training and charts on the layout of the Memphis airport. They found links on his computer to sites associated with a radical Sunni Muslim organization in Iraq, and searches for information on how guns and bombs can be smuggled past airport security. After witnessing the Muslim reaction to my lecture and what happened few weeks ago at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when an Iranian Muslim student drove into, for Allah’s sake, innocent students gathering on university grounds, the Memphis police were not going to take any chances.

It is a sad state of affairs when any speaker on any American University campus has to be surrounded by police officers to protect their freedom of speech and person from intimidation and menace. America is the country where free speech is protected under our constitution. Who would have expected that in the home of the Beale Street Blues, W.C. Handy and Elvis, I would be confronted by Muslims trying to muzzle my free speech and perhaps all of us?

At the end of the lecture the Muslims immediately in front swarmed over me questioning and intimidating. Police officers quickly moved in and pulled me out straight to the police cars as the enraged Muslims started shouting.

Media capitulating, and pork at lunch

without comments

Michelle Malkin shows how Muslims are winning the cartoon war. Plus, there’s censorship in Sweden.

On a side note, children in Denmark’s public schools are going to be allowed a choice of pork at lunch. Since 2001, the government there had approved only meat that was acceptable to Muslims. How’s that for throwing off the shackles of political correctness?

Day of Anger

without comments

A senior Islamic cleric is calling for a Day of Anger over those editorial cartoons. That’s rather odd. I thought every day was a day of anger for militant Islam.

By the way, Michelle Malkin has taken note of the related blogburst. Plus, Front Page Magazine tells how Muslims and Arabs, rather than being oppressed by others, are really just sacrificing their own.

Idiot quote of the day

without comments

WOW! This one even tops Ray Nagin. It’s from Ohio senate candidate Paul Hackett, a Democrat, of course:

The Republican Party has been hijacked by the religious fanatics that, in my opinion, aren’t a whole lot different than Osama bin Laden and a lot of the other religious nuts around the world.

As I’ve said, the Democrats have forgotten who the bad guys really are. After all, Christianity = freedom.

While on the topic, a reader sent me the link to a column by Barbara J. Stock, “The Islamic Grim Reaper.” Here are the nuts-and-bolts of that column:

This Muslim has been taught that it is his duty to Islam to kill and there would be no punishment from Allah for murder because it is neither murder nor suicide to kill those who do not believe in Islam. With a smile, he told her that only Muslims will enter paradise. Indeed, most young Muslim boys are taught that non-Muslims are not even human but descendants of pigs and monkeys. Killing non-Muslims is a form of mercy killing because non-Muslims do not enjoy the favor of Allah.

Muslim boys are taught that if they die as “martyrs” for Islam, 72 virgins wait for them in paradise. These buxom and beautiful young girls are perpetual virgins. For those so inclined there will also be young boys called “pearls” for their pleasure when they get bored with the virgins. The would-be suicide bomber had no doubts that this was the reward he was denied because he failed.

For terrorists to succeed, they must strike terror in the hearts of their enemies. There is no faster way to accomplish this than to attack children. There is nothing that will turn calm adults into frantic and panicked human beings faster than the belief that their child’s life is in danger. Simultaneous attacks in a dozen American cities would ignite a panic in this country that has never been seen or felt before.

What is the cost to Islam? The initial cost would be only twelve lives, and for Islamics, that is nothing. But if 30 people, mostly children, could be killed at each site, Islamics would be celebrating the success of the mission. Islam has thousands waiting in line for the honor of killing for Allah. Iran claims to have a million young Muslims on its “martyrs” list.

By comparison, our “religious nuts” (Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Ray Nagin) seem rather tame.

(Hat tip: Michael Silence.)
