But I can’t say I’m surprised. Congwessman Bahney Fwank is a liberal Democrat, and the concept of government of the people, by the people, and for the people is a long-lost concept with liberal Democrats.

Frank, a Massachusetts liberal, told an audience: “Some of the people (at the rally) that wanted to engage me in conversation appeared to have been the losers in the ‘Are you smarter than Michele Bachmann contest?”‘

Rep. Bachmann, R-Minn., had organized Thursday’s rally attended by thousands of conservatives critical of the Democrats’ health care plan. Her spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment. Frank, who recently compared arguing with an angry voter to conversing with a dining room table, said this week’s protest was like being trapped inside a furniture warehouse.

Yes, I know. The post title makes no sense. I borrowed it from the Democrats, who claim that a government takeover of the American health care system will actually result in shrinking deficits. I kid you not. Some things you just cannot make up.

The bill is projected to expand coverage to 36 million uninsured, resulting in 96 percent of the nation’s eligible population having insurance.

To pay for the expansion of coverage, the bill cuts Medicare’s projected spending by more than $400 billion over a decade. It also imposes a tax surcharge of 5.4 percent on income over $500,000 in the case of individuals and $1 million for families.

The bill was estimated to reduce federal deficits by about $104 billion over a decade, although it lacked two of the key cost-cutting provisions under consideration in the Senate, and its longer-term impact on government red ink was far from clear.

Isn’t it amazing how the number of uninsured Americans has suddenly shrunk from 47 million to 36 million just within weeks? See, we’ve already reduced the rolls of the uninsured by 11 million, and didn’t even need a government takeover to do it.

Imagine how many lives might have been saved had fears of discrimination accusations not prevented the Fort Hood shooter from being reported early on. We certainly can’t offend anyone, but it’s okay to allow dangerous people to roam free.

As a student, some who knew Nidal Malik Hasan said they saw clear signs the young Army psychiatrist — who authorities say went on a shooting spree at Fort Hood that left 13 dead and 29 others wounded — had no place in the military. After arriving at Fort Hood, he was conflicted about what to tell fellow Muslim soldiers about the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, alarming an Islamic community leader from whom he sought counsel.

“I told him, `There’s something wrong with you,’” Osman Danquah, co-founder of the Islamic Community of Greater Killeen, told The Associated Press on Saturday. “I didn’t get the feeling he was talking for himself, but something just didn’t seem right.”

Danquah assumed the military’s chain of command knew about Hasan’s doubts, which had been known for more than a year to classmates in a graduate military medical program. His fellow students complained to the faculty about Hasan’s “anti-American propaganda,” but said a fear of appearing discriminatory against a Muslim student kept officers from filing a formal written complaint.

Doug Powers was liveblogging the whole thing over at Michelle Malkin’s site. Yes, House Democrats passed ObamaCare by the slimmest of margins, 220-215, just a couple of hours ago. They will gloat and call it an historic moment. They’re right. It’s quite possibly the single largest power grab in the history of our great nation. Now the only thing standing between us and a government-controlled health care system is the U.S. Senate.

Here’s the part that makes me sick:

From the start of his campaign on August 10 until an election eve debate on October 30, Owens adamantly opposed the type of public option that is contained in HR 3962, the Pelosi bill the House is voting on later today.

Owens announced qualified support for the “current bill” in an October 30 debate less than 84 hours before the polls opened. His statement of support was lost in the ensuing melodrama when Republican Dede Scozzafava withdrew from the race the next day, and then switched allegiances and endorsed him rather than the Conservative Doug Hoffman.

In his statement today lauding Owens, President Obama unwittingly confirmed what had been reported here earlier today–that the voters of the 23rd Congressional District had been misled throughout the campaign by Bill Owens that he opposed the Pelosi public option Health Care bill, and that, had Mr. Owens’ been honest with the voters throughout the entire campaign he would not have won the special election.

In other words, Democrats passed this legislation using fraud and deception, which is pretty much the only way you can sneak a freedom-sapping measure such as ObamaCare past the American people. Fraud and deception, the trademarks of your current Democrat Party.

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011. He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.

Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.

So far, no one has bit.

ESPN has even become involved trying to broker a deal that will almost assuredly be nationally televised. Still no luck.

President Obama has made General Casimir Pulaski, a Pole who fought for us in the Revolutionary War, an honorary citizen of the United States. In other words, a man who fought for our freedom has been honored by a man who is trying to take it away.

Finally, Gen. Casimir Pulaski became an American citizen on Friday, 230 years after the Polish nobleman died fighting for the as yet-unborn United States.

President Barack Obama signed a joint resolution of the Senate and the House that made Pulaski an honorary citizen.

Pulaski’s contribution to the American colonies’ effort to leave the British Empire began with a flourish. He wrote a letter to Gen. George Washington, the Revolution’s leader, with the declaration: “I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it, and to live or die for it.”
